Defensive Driving Courses have been available to drivers in New York for Point & Insurance Reduction for many years.  Originally, the only way to complete a New York Defensive Driving course was to attend a classroom New York Driving School.  For most people, this meant giving up 6 hours on a weekend or on weekday evenings.  Although the students of the NY Defensive Driving course would receive a 10% insurance discount for taking the course, students would often avoid attending the NY Defensive Driving Course because of it's length and due to the fact that in most cases, it was BORING.

Thankfully, the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has allowed certain NY Defensive Driving Course providers to offer the class online.  That's right, you can now sit in the comfort of your own home and complete the New York Defensive Driving Course.  You may have some questions regarding this and if you do, we have got the answers.  Below you will find a list of commonly asked questions.

Q. How long does the class take?
A. The class is still 6 hours long but, you can now take the NY Defensive Driving course
    in multiple sessions.  You can take the class for an hour and come back the next day
    and take it for 15 minutes etc.  You take the course at your convenience.
